Prayers of Approach & Confession
You … fount of every blessing.
You … everflowing stream of mercy.
You … mountain of unfailing love.
You … worthy of all our praise.
You and then us …
Us … pausing in our sojourn, grateful to be with You
Us … trusting You at every turn to guide us safely home
Us … tuning our hearts to sing and to live Your grace
Us … a people who rely upon You.
Yet also … us prone to wander
prone to wander from Your shepherd’s fold
prone to wander into temptation
tempted by other so-called gods of consumption and security
tempted by the glitter of false promises that cannot deliver
tempted to go it alone, without You.
Gathered here with You
we acknowledge how we have wandered from You and from Your Way …
