more to read

I am excited that today's mail brought a copy of my friend Martin S. Cohen's new book. It is entitled
"To Speak the Truth, Stories 2011-2023" on first glance it looks amazing. I will tell the story of how Martin and I met each other some twenty-five years ago. That friendship was probably the last thing that the ansti-semites who desecrated the Beth Tikvah synagogue in Richmond, B.C. imagined would result from m spray painting horrendous threats on the exterior of the synagogue. There is more to the story of our friendship. Suffice it to say that even though Martin, is now a rabbi in Roslyn, New York while I remain near Richmond in South Surrey, B.C. We enourage and support and learn from each other via email that helps us span the continent and the years. In the  process we had team taught courses that explored Christian Jewish dialogue through the lens of our friendship.

  1. Dear Ed, after so many years I literally stumbled across your blog. What a courageous and scary journey you’ve been on! Immediately the years took me back to 1988 as I was embarking on the scary journey of ministry and I was so blessed to have you as my mentor and supervisor. It’s been over a decade since we met at BC Conference just after your multiple myeloma diagnosis. Your presence in my life is a gift I still cherish and my respect for you and your faithfulness and steadfastness in the face of adversity has only grown as I have read your blog! My partner Gloria and I moved to south Surrey in 2018 and Crescent Beach is a favourite for walking. We are going to be out of town till the end of May but would love to share conversation with you if you are able. I’m the meanwhile I will think of some books that you might be interested in and I will send a card to your McKenzie address. Please know that I am thinking of you and keeping you in my heart and prayers.
